Inspired by Norwegian green turf roofs, Philip Marr of Marr Construction decided to construct his own green roof.
Green roofs are visually appealing, naturally insulating, and an innovative way to garden. Also, cats love them as play areas!
Green roofs can be useful for a building because they can absord rainwater, provide insulation and create a habitat for wildlife. Green roofs can also helplower urban air temperatures and reduce the heat island effect.
Green roofs come in two types: Intensive Roofs and Extensive Roofs. Intensive Green roofs are thicker and are able to support a wider variety of plants; however, they are heavier and require more maintenance. Extensive Green roods are covered in a light layer of vegetation and are lighter than intensive green roofs, therefore requiring less maintenance.
